Without any fanfare or significant public support or opposition, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors has approved a significant bond package that will allow for the completion of several transportation and public safety projects.
At a special meeting in Florence on Nov. 20, the board unanimously approved bonding authority for up to $108 million. Though the amount previously agreed upon by the supervisors for projects was $59 million, the higher amount was set as the county is securing bonds at lower rates for the previously approved Ironwood/Gantzel roads project to save some money on interest payments.
The public hearing for the bond proposal on the $59 million for new projects was held on Nov. 5. County Manager Greg Stanley said the county had not received any further comment on the projects or the bonds after that point.
