Editor’s note: Most, if not all of us, have been touched in some way by cancer. And millions of Americans are sports fans in one way or another. So, we put the two together and came up with the Rose Law Group Reporter Quote of the Year, selected from the more than 50 noteable quotes we published in 2014.
It came from Stuart Scott (shown with wife), ESPN anchor, concluding a speech July 16 when he received the Jimmy V Perserverance Award for battling a rare form of cancer for seven years. He has been absent from ESPN shows for months now as he continues his battle against an unusual cancer of the appendix.
“When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you lived, why you lived and in the manner in which you lived. So live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight, then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you.”
