FLORENCE — Local voters apparently will be asked to let the town exceed state spending limits by $15 million in the next fiscal year, in a special election to be held on May 19, 2015.
If the voters agree, the approval would do much to relieve the town from a state-imposed expenditure limitation.
The town is unable to spend all of its expected revenue because a majority of Florence voters said “no” on Home Rule in the August primary election, apparently for the first time in 30 years.
