House, Senate committee assignments announced

House and Senate leadership announced committee assignments Wednesday afternoon, setting the stage for the 2015 Legislative Session.

Senate President Andy Biggs, R-Gilbert, also announced Sylvia Allen will serve as president pro tempore, a role the Snowflake Republican was also assigned during her last stint in the Senate.

Notable mentions from the Senate’s committee assignments include a vice chairmanship of the Appropriations Committee for Rep. John Kavanagh, elected to the Senate in Legislative District 23. The Fountain Hills Republican chaired the Appropriations Committee the last two years while serving in the House.
