Continuing rival efforts by the city and the Fire District of Sun City West to add subscribers for firefighting services are giving property owners in an unincorporated area more choices on who they want responding to a blaze.
The city council at its latest work session authorized Fire Chief Bobby Ruiz and Deputy City Manager Jeff Tyne to begin a campaign to sign property owners up in the Maricopa County island while trying to set up a special fire district in that area that could eventually become part of the city.
