SRP rate hike a killer move for solar, says state industry association

The Arizona Solar Energy Industries Association is calling Salt River Project’s plan to change its billing methods for customers a job-killer for the solar industry in the Valley.

In a letter sent Dec. 5, the association asked SRP to put off a changes that would effect new solar customers as of Dec. 9, saying those customers who opted into solar would be facing charges of $100 or more compared to what solar customers who signed up with SRP prior to Monday’s deadline.

“This market killing move is particularly troubling in light of the fact that the SRP board has not passed judgment on this proposal yet,” said Mark Holohan, president of AriSEIA in a letter to David Rousseau, president of SRP.
