If the utility’s proposed rate changes are approved, more than 12,000 Salt River Project customers who use solar power will have to recalculate whether or not they are saving money.
And they could face problems selling their homes.
SRP is proposing about $50 in new fees that will take effect on any customer in the utility’s territory who presents a solar contract after Monday.
The people who already have solar aren’t exempt, though. SRP proposes they keep their current rate structure for another 10 years, then start paying the new fees.
