There might be a new player in the forecourt of Mayor Kevin Johnson’s economic game in Sacramento with signals pointing to one of the three final candidates being from Phoenix – most likely, Barry Broome, Greater Phoenix Economic Council president and CEO.
In a series of leads generated in Phoenix and by our sister publication, the Sacramento Business Journal, we’ve learned that among the three finalists to lead the Greater Sacramento Economic Council is “the head of a major economic development organization outside California.” Earlier, Sacramento reporter Allen Young was told that the candidate was someone from Phoenix.
When contacted, both GPEC and Broome said, “No comment.”
