Bill aims to protect equine ‘neigh-sayers’

One Montana lawmaker is hoping to help some serious neigh-sayers.

That is, police horses.

Billings Rep. Margie MacDonald is sponsoring a bill that would make it a crime punishable by at least a $5,000 fine to injure a police horse. She says it’s important to protect police horses under the law the same as police dogs or policemen themselves.

“They’re highly trained, highly valuable animals, and we want to make sure they are protected,” MacDonald said.
