Corporation Commission’s first meeting of the year a yawner, but stay tuned

The Arizona Corporation Commission’s first regular meeting of 2015, complete with two new commissioners, breezed by in about 30 minutes with little discussion and all unanimous votes.

Newly elected Chairman Susan Bitter Smith started by saying she would run meetings efficiently and keep comments to a minimum from staff on agenda items on the presumption that commissioners had read the materials.

Absent from the Corporation Commission’s agenda: Big utility players like APS or any mention of solar energy. But more contentious issues will continue in the coming months, Bitter Smith said.

“Don’t expect this next month, the agenda will be full,” she said.
