Citing a frustration over a lack of communication, the Eloy City Council voted Monday to oust City magistrate Gene Wilson and instead begin advertising for a new municipal court judge as soon as possible.
Monday’s decision came after a 75-minute performance evaluation of the 14-year city judge last Tuesday, which took place in a special session open to the public. Wilson had requested his review take place in an open meeting.
Wilson will remain on as city magistrate until the council appoints a new one. City manager Harvey Krauss estimated the search and interview process would take at least 30 days.
