The city saw 13 new major businesses opening doors during the year, and watched its industrial and retail vacancy rates top 92 percent. Office space finished the year with a 74.7 percent occupancy rate – close to the average rate across greater Phoenix.
Some business highlights from this past year include American Furniture Warehouse, a new 600,000-square-foot furniture retailer, opening its doors in August at the intersection of Bethany Home Road and 99th Avenue.
