Lopez, Antone elected to Ak-Chin tribal council

Ann Marie Antone and Gabriel Lopez were elected to the Ak-Chin Indian Community Tribal Council in a Jan. 10 election.

They came out of ahead of Terry Enos in a three-person race.

Lopez is well acquainted with the council, having already served three terms during the time of construction of the UltraStar Multi-Tainment Center. He said he believes in making education a priority. He has been a member of the Community Charter School Committee. He also said it is important to keep the native language alive because it is “vital in keeping our culture and traditions.”
