Dr. John Simon, the radiologist who founded SimonMed Imaging Inc., plans to develop a $30 million health campus next to St. Joseph’s Westgate Medical Center in Glendale.
He said this project at the northwest corner of 99th and Glendale avenues would be the first comprehensive health care campus in Arizona.
While it is located next to a hospital, it won’t be considered a hospital campus, Simon said.
“This is an outpatient campus,” he said, which will include a continuum of care, such as medical office space, surgery centers, long-term care and skilled-nursing facilities.
“As we move toward preventive care and wellness, it’s very important that patients have one location that’s easily accessible in which all these services are conveniently organized,” Simon said. “We’re also looking for a research component — someone who wants to locate in the area who is interested in health care research.”
