Glendale City Manager Brenda Fischer resigns after 18 months

In a shocking announcement, Glendale City Manager Brenda Fischer announced she’s stepping down after 18 months on the job at city hall.

Fischer came into a city that was reeling financially, facing rock bottom staff morale, and looking at questionable activities by previous top mangers – including the former city manager, his top assistant and top financial and budget officers.

Cities periodically conduct management performance reviews in executive session, and after today’s meeting, Mayor Jerry Weiers emerged from the meeting with the following statement: “Ms. Fischer has communicated to the mayor and council that she has accomplished all of her goals at the city and consequently intends to resign as city manager at a mutually agreeable time that does not negatively impact the work of the city
