Glendale pursues special census to grab more bucks

Glendale could lose several million dollars in state shared revenues, over the next half dozen years, if quickly-growing cities in the Valley successfully pursue special censuses and lay claim to a greater fraction of those funds.

“Gilbert, Buckeye, Goodyear and Queen Creek are the governmental units that are funded for special censuses,” confirmed Virginia Hyer, a spokesperson for the U.S. Census Bureau, in an e-mail last week.
