Glendale City Council held its first 2015-16 budget workshop last week, and is scheduled to discuss budget priorities at a Feb. 12 retreat, but city administrators are refusing to release their initial budget documents.
Barrel district Councilmember Bart Turner said it might be time to change the third budget priority, approved last year, which says “maintain public safety and other service levels.”
“We may find out in the process whether or not we are at a point where we can increase service levels and start bringing back some of what’s been cut – that might be something we want to keep an eye on, rather than just maintaining,” he explained.
Recent comments from top city administrators suggest they believe they can determine appropriate levels for city services during the next couple of months, before the first budget meeting that allows public comment happens in May.
