By the time Mesa Mayor John Giles took the stage Tuesday morning for his first “State of the City” address, he knew the two questions on everyone’s mind, he said.
The first — “How do you like being mayor?” — was answered in a matter of jubilant seconds.
“This is the funnest job that anyone could ever imagine,” said Giles, who took office four and a half months ago. “Every morning, I get up excited to go to work, and typically come home late and say a prayer of thanks for what a great day I’ve had.”
The second — “How is Mesa doing?” — occupied the remainder of the sold-out breakfast.
