Maricopa has seen real economic growth in the last three years, and several factors point toward another surge of development on the horizon.
Since 2012, the city has seen the opening of Banner Health Center, a Central Arizona College campus, a new permanent city hall and the Copper Sky Recreation Complex. But there are some encouraging signs for continued progress in economic development.
While many Maricopans are rightly skeptical about the status of the Holiday Inn Express, which would be the first modern-day stand-alone hotel in the city, another hotel may come along instead.
The city had a hotel feasibility study done by private company Core Distinction Group. With a population of more than 45,000, it’s understood Maricopa needs a hotel – other than the Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino, which includes a hotel.
