Solar industry tells committee we don’t need more stinkin’ regulations

An Arizona Senate bill intended to protect consumers from potentially misleading solar leases unanimously passed through a committee Monday.

SB1465, sponsored by Republican Sen. Debbie Lesko of Sun City, would require solar leases to include the type of system being sold, the total number of payments and any other associated costs, a summary of maintenance and operating costs, potential tax obligations or incentives, and any restrictions on selling a home that has solar panels.

“I’m introducing this legislation because I have a growing concern that my constituents and other homeowners throughout this state are falling victim to these unscrupulous solar companies,” Lesko said at Monday’s Senate Water and Energy committee meeting.
