Salt River Project has reached agreement with enough tribal-land allottees to allow a major portion of a new East Valley power line project to be built on the Gila River Reservation, averting the need for alternative routes through areas of Chandler.
However, the reservation route may not have settled concerns for residents in Sun Lakes, who remain worried about the proposed route’s proximity to their community, an unincorporated area of about 14,000 residents, primarily retirees, located between Chandler and the reservation.
