Surprise looks to bond road, public safety, recreation projects

Following nearly a month of debate and division, the Surprise City Council approved forming a bond committee to examine the possibility of placing a $60 million bond issue on the November ballot.

By a 6-1 margin at Tuesday night’s meeting, with Councilman Jim Biundo against the measure, the council formed a 17-member committee. The group will be chaired by a representative of the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce, who is joined by all seven members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, all six members of the Community and Recreation Services advisory board, two representatives of the Dysart Unified School District and one from the Nadaburg School District.
