AG recuses himself from Corporation Commission whistleblower investigation

Attorney General Mark Brnovich said Wednesday he assigned two seasoned staffers to investigate allegations against the Corporation Commission raised in a whistleblower letter, he said he will recuse himself from investigating the claims himself.

A whistleblower letter sent to Corporation Commission Chairman Susan Bitter Smith, executive director Jodi Jerich and Brnovich alleged former Commissioner Gary Pierce met with Arizona Public Service CEO Don Brandt or former CEO Don Robinson more than a dozen times. Seven of those meetings occurred while APS had pending rate cases before the Commission.
