Governor Doug Ducey called for low taxes and light regulation to aid in the “innovative and instrumental driver of the Arizona economy” in a speech before the Competitive Power Alliance Energy Conference this week.
Ducey told the crowd of energy industry representatives, including members of solar companies and utilities, being number three in solar jobs is not enough, and moving forward the state will aim for that number one spot, reported the Yellow Sheet Report.
SRP’s adoption of a $50 monthly solar charge to its utility customers has killed solar in Arizona, Rose Law Group partner Court Rich, an attorney for The Alliance for Solar Choice, told the Yellow Sheet Report.
“Arizona does not get to be No. 1 in solar jobs by passing the APS solar red tape bill . . .or allowing SRP to wipe out the entire rooftop solar industry,” Rich said.
He said Ducey’s comments are a welcome addition to energy discussions; “now we need APS, SRP and TEP to listen and stop standing in the way of progress and economic growth.”
