Grand Canyon University to restore more homes than some towns have

In a collaboration believed to be the first of its kind, Grand Canyon University is partnering with Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona to rehabilitate homes in the West Valley as part of its continuing commitment to revitalize the neighborhood it calls home.

About 700 homes in the Canyon Corridor — between 43rd Avenue and Interstate 17 and Bethany Home and Indian School roads — are eligible for the program, according to Todd Rogers, Habitat’s chief strategy officer.

The project kicked off in January when more than 200 Grand Canyon students worked on eight houses in the neighborhood immediately south of the university.
