On March 10, Republican lawmaker Anthony Kern said in a Republican caucus meeting that he recommended passage of SB1445 “as a certified peace officer.”
It turns out Kern, 53, of Glendale, is neither certificated nor a peace officer.
The bill, which is opposed by chiefs of police, the media and the African-American community, would keep the name of an officer who kills or seriously wounds someone a secret for up to 90 days.
