Real estate research firm RealtyTrac has revised downward a previously reported significant January jump in foreclosures both in the Valley and statewide.
RealtyTrac now reports there were just over 2,000 foreclosures and bank repossessions in Arizona in January and just under 1,500 in the Phoenix metro area. That is down from an initial RealtyTrac report of close to 3,500 foreclosures statewide and 2,300 in the Valley,
RealtyTrac Vice President Daren Blomquist said the Irvine, California-based research firm made the changes after finding someone in its reporting group had put older foreclosure data in the January numbers.
“Our goal is to be as accurate as possible,” Blomquist said.
