The legislative session may be over for Arizona’s elected leaders, but at least for state Sen. Sylvia Allen, R-Snowflake, that doesn’t mean an end to controversies that emerged during the flurry of lawmaking.
Allen is still dealing with the blowback from one particular bill she introduced that dealt with the rights afforded to law enforcement officers. Specifically, the bill sought employee protections during administrative investigations when they may be subject to disciplinary action.
The bill didn’t end up passing, but Allen has found herself defending the proposed legislation because her involvement was closely tied to a case involving her son-in-law Tim Hunt, a former detention officer at the Navajo County Jail.
