Scottsdale-based Camelot Homes bought nearly 60 acres of state land in an auction to bring new homes to north Scottsdale.
Bill Boyd, a spokesman for the state, told Dealmaker the homebuilder won the $11 million property on April 14 in an Arizona State Land Department auction as the single bidder.
Tom Kirk, COO for Camelot Homes, told Dealmaker that 58 acres of vacant land was bought on Pima Road south of Pinnacle Peak Road.
On Feb. 6, Camelot requested approval from Scottsdale for a Zoning Map Amendment from Single-family Residential, Environmentally Sensitive Lands (R1-190 ESL) to Single-family Residential, Planned Block Development, Environmentally Sensitive Lands (R1-10, PRD, ESL) zoning, as well as modified development standards for a new 89-lot single family residential subdivision located on the east side of Pima Road and Los Gatos Drive, according to documents.
However, the request was withdrawn April 8 in order to submit a new plan that will involve a different rezoning application, Kirk said.
“It’s planned for single family, but a specific plan hasn’t been determined yet,” he said. “It’s still early in the process in terms of planning, but there will be more to come.”
