In a rare move, the Arizona Corporation Commission rescinded a decision made in December 2014 that assessed a fee for Arizona Public Service customers who didn’t want smart meters.
Opponents of smart meters scored a victory Monday when the Corporation Commission threw out its decision, instead requesting Arizona Public Service bring the smart meter opt-out fee option back in a rate case.
The opt-out process and fees approved by the commission were set to begin in April, but never went into effect, according to APS.
