Under a measure signed Wednesday by Gov. Ducey, municipalities and counties will be prohibited from requiring developers to provide affordable homes or apartments.
The new law bars land use regulations, plan provisions or zoning conditions that have the effect of establishing the sales or lease price for any housing unit. It also requires housing units “be designed for sale or lease to any particular class or group of residents.”
Homebuilders and business groups backed the new law, while opposition came from the Arizona Housing Alliance.
