Peoria builds homes, while Glendale languishes

Glendale used to issue 20 to 25 permits per month for residential home construction, but the monthly rate has been one to six permits since late 2013, growth has shifted elsewhere and city budgets for building safety and planning have declined.

When it came to permits for new homes, Glendale granted 143 in 2011, 305 in 2012, 230 in 2013, 30 in 2014 and eight over the first two months of 2015, according to permit reports and statistics on the city’s website.
