Plans are off to bring a medical-marijuana cultivation facility near a north Phoenix neighborhood, quelling the outrage of residents fighting the zoning variance that would allow it near their homes.
The application withdrawn by Tempe-based Tryke Companies last week marks a victory for those in a months-long battle against the plans for a 20-acre site near 16th Street and Deer Valley Road. A lawyer representing the company sent the withdrawal request to the city’s Board of Adjustment on Thursday.
The board will vote this week to accept the withdrawal, said Sandra Hoffman, deputy director over the city’s planning division. The decision includes both the use permits and variance associated with the plans, she said.
