Chandler officials have given the green light to a developer’s plan to build 84 houses in a rural area of southeast Chandler.
In a separate matter, the city has decided to delay another housing proposal that also would be built near an area that has retained a rural character in Chandler.
In the first case, Terra West Communities, a Phoenix-based development group that specializes in jump-starting stalled projects, has assembled nearly 35 vacant acres on the south side of Chandler Heights Road, east of Cooper Road and just west of the 132nd Street alignment.
The area is dotted with horse properties and parcels of land that remain county islands under Maricopa County’s jurisdiction.
