Mayor Bob Jackson says he’s never been more optimistic about Casa Grande’s economic future. Jackson addressed more than 170 residents Friday at a luncheon hosted by the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce. Updates on developing projects around the city took up the majority of Jackson’s speech as well as some predictions on the construction of PhoenixMart and the city’s community recreation center.
Jackson began by applauding the fiscal conservatism practiced by the city council during the recent recession. He said the city reserved a “rainy day fund” of about $30 million at the start of the recession and has a current balance of about $23 million.
“We’ve managed to keep the city moving forward through that tough economic time,” Jackson said.
