PHOENIX – Governor Doug Ducey today announced the appointment of Dr. Cara Christ as director of the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS).
“Dr. Christ has been instrumental to the Department of Health Services for nearly a decade,” said Governor Ducey. “She brings a proven record of leadership and success at the department, and I’m confident Arizonans will be well-served by her expertise, experience and passion for improving public health. I’m glad she will continue her work to change lives and communities in her new role as director.”
Dr. Christ has served as chief medical officer, licensing director and deputy director of public health for ADHS since 2008. Prior to joining the Department, Dr. Christ worked at Banner Good Samaritan, in Phoenix, as an obstetrics and gynecology resident.
Dr. Christ obtained her bachelor’s degree in Microbiology (1997) and her master’s degree in Microbiology, Virology (2000) from Arizona State University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine (2005).
