For the #governor and #Democrats in the Legislature, 2015 may be remembered as the year of the hashtag.
Policymakers embraced social media this session as never before. In some cases, Twitter and Facebook helped supplement a communications strategy that ran the gamut from traditional press conferences to the digital world. In others, social media largely became a replacement for other forms of communication.
Gov. Doug Ducey’s enthusiasm for social media led some to dub him the “hashtag governor.” And in the zeitgeist of the day, he has used the ubiquitous symbol to highlight some of his primary messages and initiatives.
