Doug Ducey and Republican lawmakers like to talk about the hard decisions they had to make regarding where to cut the state budget. But when it comes to their own portions of the state budget, they didn’t cut a dime.
In fact, the Legislature and Governor’s Office have consistently appropriated themselves more than they actually spend in a year. And they’ve given themselves and a select few government agencies a unique ability to stockpile the leftover funds and build up nest eggs for rough times.
