Pinnacle West shareholders voted down a proposal Wednesday that would have required more information on the company’s election spending, though protesters outside the company’s annual shareholder meeting said they’re just getting started.

The proposal called for an annual report on indirect and direct lobbying and “grassroots lobbying communications,” including amounts of payments and recipients, for the Arizona Public Service’s parent company. It was filed by As You Sow, a nonprofit focused on corporate responsibility, on behalf of two shareholder groups representing about 2,200 of Pinnacle West’s more than 100 million shares.

According to Pinnacle West, preliminary results of the vote showed that the proposal didn’t receive a majority of the votes from shareholders and did not pass.
