The press says the Arizona Speaker of the House is in hot water with some of his Republican cohorts.
But David Gowan says he doesn’t know what all the media “hoopla” is about.
He did tell the Herald/Review he doesn’t have all the financial facts at his fingertips when it comes to administering the 60-member state House of Representatives, occasionally saying his chief of staff, Tami Stowe, does.
In an interview Tuesday morning, Gowan said earlier articles, especially in the Arizona Capitol Times were premature when it came to reported renovations of the House, although the speaker did say some were accomplished “to bring the majority leadership closer” to his office.
Affected by those renovations were the chairmen of the Rules Committee — fellow Rep. David Stevens — and the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee — Rep. Justin Olson — because Gowan said, “they are members of the majority party leadership.”
