SRP won’t refund fee added to April bills

SRP will not refund approximately $2.6 million collected from a rate hike in April.

Many customers and some board members thought the rate hike would be phased in.

Salt River Project will not refund the extra $2.6 million it charged on April bills, as some of its elected board members had hoped.

The utility raised its monthly residential service fee by $3, and its rates for business customers even more, which some board members said was not approved. But a utility-board member who has been the main proponent of a refund said he’s giving up the fight because he doesn’t have support for his cause.
