Attorney General Mark Brnovich has appealed a court ruling that permits certain undocumented immigrants known as “dreamers” to get driver’s licenses in Arizona.
In the appeal filed this week with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Brnovich argues that a federal judge erred in ordering Arizona to end a driver’s license ban against dreamers.
As a result, the appeal says, the state should be permitted to resume denying driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants who have received work permits through President Barack Obama’s 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
