Glendale City Council had such a chance. A second chance. A do-over.
They could have reconsidered the vote they took to abolish their contract with the Arizona Coyotes, taken a more conciliatory tone and tried to repair the public relations damage their foolish action has caused the city and its relationship with the team.
But, no.
The city decided to continue its plan to end the 15-year, $225 million deal it signed with the Arizona Coyotes.
