Cost of living: Best Arizona cities for beer, bananas and mortgages

Living is cheaper in Bullhead City than in just about any other Arizona city, according to the most-recent Cost of Living Index.

Phoenix scored below the national norm, making it a bargain among big cities. And Flagstaff, with its high cost of housing, ranked with Orange County, Calif.; Kodiak, Ala.; and Hilo, Hawaii.

Lake Havasu City’s steep transportation costs rival those in Jacksonville, Fla., and Baltimore, while Yuma’s utility prices are on par with Hartford, Conn., and Providence, R.I.
