Town officials won’t be filling some vacant positions as the tentative budget forecasts a gap of more than $1 million in costs versus projected revenue for the coming fiscal year.
The Town Council discussed the new budget in a work session June 10. More budget discussions are planned. The council will hold a public hearing on the budget on July 13 before voting to adopt it.
“We spent a lot of money this year, but look at what we accomplished,” Mayor Tom Rankin said.
The new budget adds no new positions and freezes several job vacancies. It provides no car purchases or replacements, Town Manager Charles Montoya told the council.
