Bethesda-based Host Hotels & Resorts now owns two Scottsdale resorts with the $400M purchase of The Phoenician, a 643-room resort.

Starwood will continue to manage the hotel under its Luxury Collection brand. Host also owns the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, which is also managed by Starwood.

The Phoenician sits on 300-acres at the base of Camelback Mountain. The AAA Five-Diamond property includes nine restaurants and bars, 83,500 square feet of meeting space, a 27-hole golf course, seven swimming pools and a 25,000-square-foot spa and fitness center.

Jeff Clabaugh of Washington Business Journal reports the purchase also includes nine adjacent acres zoned for residential development.

Host says it will start renovations at the Phoenician during its summer low-season.
