Personal and office storage container manufacturer IRIS USA is spending between $33M and $40M to create its new Western United States Regional Headquarters in Surprise’s Skyway Business Park.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on the project site May 21, with Surprise Mayor Sharon Wolcott, along with members of the City Council, representatives from IRIS USA and its Japanese parent company IRIS Ohyama, attended the event.
When completed, the 30-acre site near Dysart and Cactus roads will be home to a 420KSF facility, including 280KSF of space for product manufacturing and distribution. The plastic storage container producer will also conduct product research and development on site for several of its divisions, including commercial LED technology, housewares and e-commerce.
IRIS USA is expected to begin occupancy in early 2016. Surprise is providing project office space at its AZ TechCelerator business incubator facility during development and will reimburse up to $500K in review, permit and impact fees once the headquarters is occupied.
