Orlando leaders look to Phoenix for downtown inspiration

The growth and revitalization of downtown Phoenix is a model the home of Disney World wants to emulate.

A group of 80 Central Florida business, education and political leaders is swarming Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale this week to glean ideas to take home and help grow its economy.

Rick Weddle, president and CEO of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission and former CEO of Greater Phoenix Economic Council, is leading the group on a whirlwind tour of CityScape, ASU Downtown, SkySong, Intel and the Flexible Display Center. The group also is ending today at Taliesin West.

Orlando business leaders are in town this week to learn about how the revitalization of downtown Phoenix can help them grow their city’s economy.
