Possible suspension of Prescott sign code follows Gilbert ruling

The City of Prescott’s legal department is not releasing information on the matter, but it appears that enforcement of the city’s sign code will be suspended until after the ongoing election season.

According to two members of the Prescott City Council, the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Town of Gilbert’s sign ordinance clearly has impacts on the City of Prescott’s code as well.

“We need to go back to the drawing board and examine the city code,” City Councilwoman Jean Wilcox said Thursday afternoon, June 25. “For the time being, my understanding is they’re not going to enforce the current code.”
