Despite no formal announcement, records at the Secretary of State’s Office show state Rep. Frank Pratt, R-Casa Grande, has filed paperwork to begin fundraising for a run for the state Senate in 2016.
Pratt, who represents Legislative District 8 but is serving the last of four consecutive terms allowed by law, was first elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 2008 and was re-elected in 2010, 2012 and 2014. He lost in the general election for a House seat in 2004 and 2006.
Pratt looks to unseat incumbent Sen. Barbara McGuire, D-Kearny, a person with whom he has an interesting history.
